After four hours of sawing the log has been cut in half. The section on the right has been rigged to lift it upright so it can be placed vertically on blocks.

Bruce is working from a specially made scaffold that was built onto the tractor's forks. This work platform was crucial for making many of the vertical cuts on the two figures.

Here, Bruce is carving a series of spiral-shaped pleats on the female figure to suggest the look of a dress or cape that is swirling around her back.

The two forms have now been moved to their permanent site and each has undergone additional carving that is now complete. At this point they are ready for a coat of oil sealer.
